Our next workshop will be based on High-Speed Imaging for Motion Analysis.
Have you ever thought what objects looks like the instant they explode, break, or puncture?
In our next workshop we are going to take pictures of objects doing exactly this.
We will work together to setup a flash controller that listens for sounds. When the controller hears the sound it will send a single to a flash. With a camera already pointed at the object and the apature open, we will be able to take a perfect snapshot of the event the instant it takes place.
Here is the fun part, we get to choose what objects we want to do this with.
Below are some ideas, but the more creative objects we bring and puncture, explode or break the better!!! I will have plastic sheeting to put down on the floor so if it gets messy we should be okay.
Here is a balloon with cornstarch:

Here is a marshmallow getting shot with a BB gun:

Scrambled eggs?

When thinking about what object to bring, think about the event, and how the event will trigger a sound.
For example a balloon can explode with a sharp object and the explosion noise would trigger the flash controller.
Please confirm with me the various objects you will be bringing in so we can prepare the set.
If you want some sure event captures, feel free to bring in the items listed above.
It my hope that everyone participates in this event as it will be a lot of work to prepare, and fun! Please RSVP with your object ideas.
